The summer heat in the Liwa Desert comes at you in waves of rolling air, so hot that it stings your eyes and face like standing at the open door of a furnace.

Each day, the temperature would reach 50 degrees in the early afternoon and still remain in the mid 40's by sundown.

I ventured out each afternoon to photograph the vast dune formations, enthralled by the sheer breathless beauty of the desert.
